Our trail’s 16 stages, or ‘etapas,’ can be experienced over time or in a single coast-to-coast hike. The trail begins on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast, just south of Tortuguero National Park. From there, it runs through lowland banana and pineapple plantations; ascends into the mountains through rainforests and coffee plantations; and travels down into the valleys and rural communities of the interior before ending in the Pacific coastal town of Quepos. El Camino de Costa Rica can be enjoyed one stage at a time, or in a single 16-day experience from coast to coast.
Our hikers support sustainable conservation and travel in the heart of Costa Rica by visiting our rural entrepreneurs, spreading the word about El Camino de Costa Rica, donating, and fundraising.
