The grade of today’s walk is a gentle descent for nearly the entire way on a road that transitions from pavement to gravel early on. The views of the nearby mountains, fields, and pastures are captivating and the stage passes quickly.
Soon the first views of the Pacific Ocean are encountered depending on cloud cover and haze.
Note: While the tiny village of Naranjillo is a nice destination, it is not on the trail and involves a 1 km steep descent into a valley to reach which must be climbed out of when leaving. Rancho Turístico Mirador Buena Vista involves a 0.5 km descent but there is a lovely side cut trail that brings you back to the main route without ascending back up.
