This stage starts with a winding walk through terraced coffee and sugarcane fields that include nice views of Lake Angostura and the surrounding sugarcane fields. There are views of the distant Irazu and Turrialba volcanoes.
After making your way through the farm fields, you emerge onto the paved Route 225 and turn left. The small town of Attiro offers modest resupply options.
After crossing the bridge over Rio Atirro turn sharply right onto a gravel road that soon begins the ascent of Cerro Atirro, before descending into the sugarcane fields below. Soon the route exits the cane fields and crosses back over route 225 onto a gravel road that becomes densely forested.
This follows the Rio Pejibaye for several kilometers before crossing the river on a hanging bridge then following the river along the opposite bank until eventually arriving at the large Town of Pejibaye. Here major resupply, restaurants, lodging, and other amenities abound.
