Immediately upon leaving Finca Tres Equis, walk on the shoulder of busy Route 10, always walking single file, against traffic and using the sidewalk wherever present. Resupply options are down a side road on the right. Follow route 10 for 2.1 kilometers to route 413 at Restaurant El Cruce and turn left toward Pacayitas.
Along the way and at several clear high points of land, the mostly gravel road features many scenic vistas including sugar cane fields, tranquil pastures, and far off views of Volcanoes Turrialba and Irazu, and the Pacuare River Valley.
Before long you enter the village of Pacayitas where several lodging and resupply options are located. This stage is something of a rest day after the tougher stages 3 and 4, but with the reward of lovely views.
