There have been about 15 solo hikers. They all have contacted someone from the organization usually the WhatsApp number 506 6036-6199 or UrriTrek 506 6023 5507 and gotten some help arranging their accommodations since many of the places to stay are difficult to reach. The newly published book on Amazon is a great help and can be downloaded, “El Camino de Costa Rica Hiking Guide”.
You must have a guide through sections 3 and 10.
This is NOT a camino where you can just pitch your tent. It is also not a well marked Camino and you need a good Garmin since cell coverage is spotty.
Some solo hikers have had a wonderful time others have found it is too much rural roads and not enough footpath.
going with a guide you see a lot more and interact more with what each section has to offer. Some solo hikers have found it more challenging than they expected.
